Note: The first build of the ACU Events Module has been kept simple so as to allow for Event Organisers to request Permits and take Event Entries immediately, while the ACU can collate feedback for additions, amendments and alternative options to be discussed with Sport:80.
What is in the First Build?
Event Category Groups and Types
All known Event Types have been split into the 3 Category Groups of 'Events', 'Courses' and 'Conferences'.
[Please note that Sport:80 refer to the overall 'Events Module' with Groups, Categories, Builders, etc within it, though there is also a specific Event Type entitled 'Events' - it will be made clear where used that this refers to the specific 'Events' Category Group]
These types determine certain further behaviours such as which Events can be entered with different types of One-Event Licences, and which Certifications can be awarded from the Event Admin Panel (for ACU Admin-Only Officials and Coaching Seminars within the 'Conferences' Category Group).
Event Sanctioning Options
Note: 'Sanctioning' is the default Platform-wide terminology for Event creation.
Sanctioning Options will determine the cost and type of a Permit, as well as whether the Event has online entries.
This cannot subsequently be changed so please be careful in your selection here to avoid needing to create another event.
The Sanctioning Option also determines which Event Builders can subsequently be selected (see below) as, for instance, a Regional Trials Permit can only use the Event Builder relating to Trials.
Event Builders
The 'Event Builders' are the proper engine of the Events Module, the selection of which on the Sanction/Permit Request Form generates the default configuration of the Event as a whole.
For Events with Entries on the Sport:80 Platform, this is the first selection that needs to be made on the form under the tab entitled 'Event Format'.
In the First Build, this means one Event Builder per discipline within the Events Category Group:
- Enduro
- Motocross & Beachcross
- RR Drag
- RR Sprint
- RR Hill Climb
- RR Pocket Bike
- RR Scooter
- RR Parade
- RR Three Wheel
- Road Race
- RR Supermoto
- Road Race TT
- Flat Track
- Grass Track & Long Track
- Sand Race
- Trials
Entry Stages
An 'Entry Stage' is a stand-alone pot into which someone could be entered. Most commonly this is to differentiate Competitor entries from those of Coaches/Officials, or Team Entries from Individual Entries.
In the First Build, each Event Builder has up to 4 Entry Stages:
- Solo Competitor Entry - for any discipline with Solo Licences
- Team Entry - for any discipline with Sidecar Rider & Passenger Licences
- Team Member Entry - for any discipline with Sidecar Rider & Passenger Licences
- Officials Entry - for all disciplines
These Entry Stages are displayed as separate tabs to the End User on the 'Front End' (where Entries are processed) as well as in the Event Admin Panel (where Event Organisers administer the Event).
Note: both the ACU and Sport:80 are aware that taking Officials Entries online is not something that has necessarily been widely practiced and after early instance of misuse this has been disabled for all newly-created events as of 10th December 2022 onwards.
Entry Groups
An example of an 'Entry Group' is 'Solo Competitor' within the Solo Competitor Entry Group seen below (we have tried to keep naming conventions as simple and obvious as possible).
In the First Build, the these Entry Groups have been created for each Entry Stage:
- Solo Competitor Entry
- Solo Competitor
- Transponder & Cradle Hire (where used)
- Team Entry
- Team Entry
- Transponder & Cradle Hire
- Team Member Entry
- Team Member
- Officials Entry
- No Entry Group created, meaning the registration process is stripped back to a 'Click to Enter'
Entry Option CATEGORIES
A category has been created for each ACU Licence Type for each discipline, with Entry Dependencies already pre-programmed to ensure that the relevant Licence must be held to enter that Category.
How do I make changes to my default Event Configuration
There are a range of setting and changes that can be made by an Event Organiser, and the ACU and Sport:80 are reviewing what additional default options could/should be offered, be those different Event Builders or different Entry Stages, Entry Groups and Entry Categories within those Builders.

Event Entry Forms
Event Entry Forms are set at an Entry Stage level. In the First Build, the same form is being used across all options, but this will be customised to the best fit for an Entry Stage within a given Event Builder by the ACU and Sport:80 following initial feedback.
Note: The way the Sport:80 Platform is configured in terms of integrity of Database Fields and Tables does not currently allow for new fields to be added to an Entry Form on an event-by-event basis, but there are options to ensure Event Organisers can collect the information they require.
- Additional questions with a definitive list of answers - see Adding additional Categories to your Event
- Agreement to certain Policies / Conditions / Statements - within an Entry Stage, click on 'Certification' and update the text (and settings if required). Use the preview feature to check how this appears on an Entry Form
- A generic text field has been added to the Entry From relating to 'Event-Specific Information' - the requested information could be put in the 'Event Description' field on the 'Additional Info' tab of the Event Sanctioning or Event Information Form as this is hard-coded to pull through to End Users on the Front End
