Background Screens can be applied for within your ‘Personal Account’:
- Navigate to the relevant individual
- Select ‘Background Screening'
- Click on the 'Add Background Screen’ button to complete the form
- Make payment (if required)
- Your screening 'status' will automatically update once processed
You may be asked to select which type of screening require. Options are usually based on the arrangement your NGB has with NCSI (for more information on which option to select, please contact your NGB using the ‘Support’ icon on within the platform as this varies across organizations).
Note: The price will be determined by the addresses that are added to the form. It is important that those that have previously lived internationally read the information on screen carefully to ensure the relevant information is provided.
What happens to the information I submit?
The information submitted through the platform is sent directly to a third party (NCSI) to process the Background Screen.
How long does it take to process a Background Screen?
The length of time varies depending on the number and location of Background Screens that need to be processed. You can expect a longer wait for International Background Screens.
If you are concerned that your Background Screen has been pending for some time, you can use the ‘Support’ button within the platform to contact your National Governing Body directly.
What happens if my Background Screening 'fails'?
Each of our clients handle 'failed' screenings differently.
Once the Screening has been processed, the status will automatically update within the platform. Should this come back as 'Failed' you'll need to contact your NGB to discuss.
A representative will then be able to reach out to the provider to gather further information. No information is passed back to the platform detailing why the screening has failed.
The NGB representative can reach out to Sport:80 if the status needs to be updated.
Why can't I select the relevant Background Screening type?
There are four main reasons that you may not be able to select a Background Screen:

Age limits (i.e. only available to persons over the age of 18)

Set to only be addable by administrators

Reliant on a valid ‘Screening Request’

Other dependencies (such as a valid membership or certification) are required before a Background Screen can be applied for
What is a ‘Screening Request’
A ‘Screening Request’ is an additional add on that is either only addable by an administrator or is addable by an end user and requires administrator approval before it is valid. This additional step has been enforced by the National Governing Body to ensure that access to particular Background Screens is restricted. This is often used in instances where the NGB wants individuals to process 'free' screenings.
