This article will inform you about two different Stripe accounts that are used across the Platform:
- Standard
- Express
For optimal use of the Sport:80 Platform, we recommend the Express Stripe account (and as such this is now the default account that is selected for all newly connected accounts).
What is a Standard account?
A standard Stripe account is a conventional Stripe account where the account holder has a relationship with Stripe, is able to log in to the dashboard, and can process charges on their own (which we don't advise if users want to take full advantage of the Platforms reporting capabilities).
With a Standard account, refunds will be automatically processed by Stripe. This will only take place once sufficient funds are available in your account, which can cause an issue.
When the Platform first started working with Stripe, all accounts that were connected were Standard accounts.
What is an Express account?
An Express Stripe account ensures that fees can be automatically split within the Platform and limits the number of issues that users have historically experienced when processing refunds. This account sits underneath the Sport:80 Stripe account and has a streamlined dashboard that enables users to review payments and payouts directly from the Platform.
