Limits can be set on a 'per line item basis', as well as for all the line items within a particular 'group', not to be confused with the 'Allowed Number' and 'Required Number' of each Entry GROUP, which relates to how many someone performing an Entry can/must select from the options within that Group.
Per Line Item Limits

Login (make sure you switch into the account that has access to the event)

Click ‘Events Admin’

Locate your event and click the settings button to access the admin panel of the event

Click ‘Entry Options’ and click the entry option you would like to limit

Now click ‘Edit’ next to the category you would like to limit

Switch to the tab ‘Limits’

Add the maximum number of entries you would allow to enter under ‘Total Number’

Click ‘Save’

Repeat this process if you would like to limit further entry categories
Per Entry Group Limits

Login (make sure you switch into the account that has access to the event)

Click ‘Events Admin’

Locate your event and click the settings button to access the admin panel of the event

Click ‘Entry Options’ and click the entry option you would like to limit

Now click ‘Edit’ in the top section (above 'Categories')

Switch to the tab ‘Limits’
- Add the maximum number of entries you would allow to enter under ‘Number Available'

Click ‘Save’

Repeat this process if you would like to limit further entry groups (where applicable)
