Sports that have a concept of 'Teams' can have the Events Module so configured to allow for Team Entry. This is set at an 'Event Builder' level, which is built by Sport:80 according to the specifications of the Sport.
The first and most important thing to understand is that Team Entries are performed by a SINGLE User (Individual or Organization), who will need access through their User Account to all the Members of their Team. This can be obtained in 3 ways:
- An Individual affiliating to a Club or other Organization through an Add-On which involves an Organization select, like Membership
- A User or Organisation 'requesting' Access to a Member using '+ ADD NEW MEMBER'. Event-Only access is granted immediately, and the full process is outlined here
- Platform Admin - i.e. the NGB or IF - adding a User or Organisation into the Access Management section of a Member
Platform communications about the Event will be sent to the User who has performed the Entry.
Note: Platform Admin can also communicate with ALL Entrants by selecting the Event in the 'Entry' drop-down on the Advanced Filters.
Event Admin Panel Configuration for Teams
Event Builders with Teams configuration generate 2 'Entry Stages' - 1 for the Team and 1 for the Team Members. To the End User registering for the Event, the Team Member Entry Stage is effectively found within the Team Entry Stage for ease of use.
Note: This article is specifically about managing Events with Team Entry, for information about generally configurable settings, please see the following articles:

Team Entry Options
This is where the requirements of the Team are set, as well as the different Categories that a Team can enter. Both Requirements and Categories can be primarily driven by EITHER the Team OR the Team Member Entry Stage - more on which below in 'Where to apply Entry Fees and Restrictions'.
Team Requirements
Found within the Team Entry Entry Options > Entry Stage Options > Team Restrictions
Field | Use | Notes |
Min Number | Set the minimum number of Team Members a Team requires | This will be pre-populated with the default requested by the NGB |
Max Number | Set the maximum number of Team Members a Team requires | This will be pre-populated with the default requested by the NGB |
Require All Entries | Determine whether a Team must meet the min/max numbers at the point of entering | To collect Ream Entry payment before Team Members are added, this must be set to 'NO' |
Team Edits Cut Off Days Before Event | Restrict changes to Team Members | Allows for changes to Team Member within the min/max restrictions |
Allow Entries To Multiple Teams | Team Members can be added to more than one Team | Future Enhancement: ability for Event Admins to block or allow whether a Team Member can be on Multiple Teams within the same Category |
Team Entry Categories
These are where the Entry Options a Team can select from are configured. There will be default option(s) already in a newly-created Event with Team Entry.
Examples of different Entry Options are:
- Junior or Senior Team Categories, potentially also split Male or Female
- Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced level Team Categories
- Team Categories relating to whether the Team is participating in the morning or afternoon session
Where to apply Entry Fees and Restrictions
Note: the default configuration of an Event Builder on a subdomain will be determined by the NGB
Wherever possible, Sport:80 advise using the SIMPLEST route of creating Team Entry Options:
- Set the Entry Fee to be taken as part of the Team Entry Category (rather than against Team Members)
- Set Age and Gender restrictions against the Team Entry Category (these will automatically apply to any Team Members)
- Apply Dependency Restrictions against Team Members only at an Entry STAGE Level (Team Member Entry Options > Dependencies)
- Steps #2 & #3 mean that there need not be a specific Entry Option for Team Members, rather their eligibility to be assigned to a Team will be predetermined, and the process of adding them to the Team is just a matter of 1 click
There are only specific instance in which additional configuration could be needed:
- A Team can have a range of Team Members and the payment is determined by how many Members a Team enters, meaning the Entry Fee must be against the Team Member rather than the Team
- Team Members of Teams entering one Category have different Requirements vs Team Members of Teams entering other Categories. For example in Ice Skating, the Members of a Team entering the Advanced Category require HIGHER Test Certifications than Members of a Team entering the Beginner Categories
In those instances, different Entry Categories are also required for the Team Members, which in turn means the process of adding a Team Member includes the selection of the relevant Entry Category and sometimes payment.
